Artificial Brush Gaining Popularity at Major Horse Trials
The equestrian eventing world has seen an increase in the use of artificial brush to decorate jumps. Normally, this jump brush has been cut from surrounding trees and bushes, and then installed on the jumps. It is a time consuming process, which leaves the cross-country course builders itchy and angry. Bert Wood is a leading course builder who has pioneered the use of this brush on many of the courses he builds and maintains. When asked why he took the time to try this type of material he replied’ Geranium Street Equestrian found the products I asked them to find, and they worked great. These plastic bushes save time for the course builders and money for the course owners.’ Recently, Galway Downs used products provided by Geranium Street Equestrian, to brush jumps and decorate the course. This very successful show’s organizer, Robert Kellerhouse, has been supportive of making his events safer and more beautiful with the use of artificial plants and silk flowers. His recent 3 star course, designed by legendary rider Ian Stark, had its debut in November of 2010. Silk flowers are often used as ground lines in cross county course while the brush is used to help the horses jump better. Advanced course builders and designers, such as the team used at Galway Downs, take every opportunity to use the tools to make courses safer and more enjoyable for the riders. 2010 saw the adoption of ‘fake brush’ at some major horse parks. Rebecca Farm, Galway, Woodside, Richland Park and Ocala Horse Properties are a few of these events. Many of these properties also found out how easy it was to orders silk flowers through Geranium Street as well. Horse trials and 3-day eventing are growing sports in need quality material suppliers. This next year is shaping up to be a great year for more advances in course building with the use of synthetic products. Artificial hedges, plastic trees, and other decorative and functional products are being introduced to course builders across the county. Riders and spectators alike will enjoy the advances in the coming year.
